newborn photography in richfield, utah

A couple of the questions I get asked the most is, "What is the best age to take pictures of my newborn" and "when should I schedule my newborn's session?"

For posed newborn portraits, we typically aim for somewhere between 7-21 days old. At this age little ones typically sleep more and are less bothered by noise and movement, making for some precious posed portraits.

But, what if you missed that window? Maybe you forgot entirely, maybe your little one had to spend a few weeks in the NICU...can you still have "newborn photos" taken? Of course! These sessions may look a little different and we may get more awake photos than sleepy, posed photos. However, I recently took pictures of a 6 1/2 week old (see below) that turned out amazing; baby slept through the whole thing. It really just depends on the temperament of the baby.

how early should i schedule my newborn session?

Scheduling your session in advance is ideal because it will be more likely we will have open spots. We typically only schedule one newborn photography session in Richfield, Utah, per week. These spots can fill up quickly. A good time to book your photo session is around your second trimester. Once your baby arrives, reach out to me and we can set a definite date for the session.
