Newborn FAQ

Where are you located?

My private studio is located on Main Street in Richfield, Utah.

What should I bring to my newborn session?

I supply all of the newborn props, wraps, blankets, and headbands, so you don't need to worry about bringing anything to the session besides your cute baby. If you have a sentimental item you would like included in the session, you are welcome to bring it!

How soon in advance do I need to book?

I recommend booking at least 1-2 months in advance of your due date to secure your spot. Once your baby arrives, we can set a definite date for the session. I typically only have one slot per week for newborn photography in Richfield, Utah, so they can fill up fast. However, please still inquire if you are past this timeframe; I may have an opening!

How old should my newborn be for the session?

I recommend between 7-21 days, However, if your baby is older than this, a session can still be done. We just may get more awake photos than sleepy posed photos.

How long will the session last?

A typical posed newborn session lasts around 2-3 hours, depending on the temperament of baby and if we need to pause for feeding/changing.

Can I pick the colors and props used in the session?

I send a questionnaire before the session where you can let me know what your preferences are. I will style the different setups so that everything is ready to go when you arrive.

How do I get my photos?

After your session, I will do a light editing on your images and then upload them to a secure password-protected website. You will select the images you want, and I will do a final complete edit on them and send you a link to download them. Your albums and other products will be delivered to you if you live in Sevier County or mailed if you live further away.

Will you post my newborn's pictures on social media or your website?

Not unless you give me permission to! Otherwise, they are kept private. I value my client's privacy and take it very seriously.

Do you photoshop wrinkles and cellulite?

Okay, listen. I think we all have “trouble areas” we would like to minimize! But trust me, you are beautiful just the way that you are! With the proper angels and posing, I can capture that in camera.

Prior to your shoot, I will send you a questionnaire where you can identify any areas you would like to minimize as well as areas you would like to highlight. That way we don’t have to talk about it during the shoot and can stay positive.

I do retouch photos, mostly to erase blemishes and airbrush skin to smooth and soften. I don’t believe in making a person look plastic-y or fake though. We’ll let Barbie keep the corner on the market on that!

What should I wear for my session?

Anything you want! This shoot is all about showcasing YOU and your personality. Prior to your shoot, I will send a guide with ideas for what you may want to wear. You can choose to wear lingerie, a swimsuit, your significant other's jacket or jersey, a dress, or just your usual every day clothes - the possibilities really are endless!

Will you post my pictures on social media or your website?

Not unless you give me permission to! Otherwise, they are kept completely confidential. I value my client's privacy and take it very seriously. Your photos are edited in a private space and not shared with anyone.

Where do you do your outdoor shoots? is it private?

I have a couple of locations for outdoor shoots; typically in the mountains near Salina. I have a "lookout" person that comes with us to ensure no one comes near where we are taking photographs. You are welcome to bring another person with you as well if that makes you more comfortable. I have a little pop up changing tent for privacy. Your shoot will totally be tailored to your comfort level.

If you have a location where you would like to shoot, I am open to ideas!

I'm afraid I will be awkward in front of the camera - how will I know how to pose?

I totally understand that concern but I will be there to guide you through every pose - I’ll even demonstrate for you first. I’ll tell you where to put your hands, how to tilt your head, where to look, and even what expression to give. Everyone is just a little different, so we will work together to get it just right! I got you!

Do you offer hair and makeup?

Hair and makeup is currently not included in our package price. However, if you are interested in getting it done (which I highly recommend), I can send you the names and numbers of fantastic hair and makeup people!
